Diff'rent Strokes Awards 2008

Ladies and gentlemen, it's that time of the year again... every press has gone to print their own list of who's who and what's what of the year. Here at Diff'rent Strokes HQ, we present you the inaugural Diff'rent Strokes Awards: acknowledging shenanigans in pop culture this year, that really matters (to us).

Now that's one list you won't see Miley Cyrus on...

JADE'S HEADLINE OF THE YEAR:
The election of Barack Obama.
"Whether this historic moment turns into a historic presidency will be the story of the next few years."

DAVE'S HEADLINE OF THE YEAR:
The Mumbai Terror Attacks.
"I was actually in Delhi when terror struck tourist spots in Mumbai. And to think India's had no less than 60 terror attacks this year itself - is shocking but at the same time, really challenging to think how much of it makes news here in Australia."

JADE'S FASHION ACCESSORY OF THE YEAR:
Headphones.
"Fashion? What's that exactly? I'm gonna say headphones. As an avid public transporter, I've developed theories about the personalities of the people on my travels based on their headphones."

DAVE'S FASHION ACCESSORY OF THE YEAR:
Funky sunglasses.
"2008's seen a departure from serious, classic shades to more plastic, kitsch and retro frames and designs. Forget practicality and welcome trashy, throwaway glam!"

JADE'S CINEMATIC WOWZER OF THE YEAR:
The Dark Knight.
"It was really hyped but totally lived up to it. My Aussie recommendation is The Black Balloon."

DAVE'S CINEMATIC WOWZER OF THE YEAR:
Wall-E.
"The sight of two robots holding hands had me dissolving to tears! Cruel timing given my boyfriend had just embarked on a three month overseas trip."

JADE'S CINEMATIC FIZZER OF THE YEAR:
The X Files Movie.
"I am really hesitant to say this as an avid X Files addict but I wanted so much more, and any true fan would agree with me. I've completely re-written the plot though and I'm happy to act it out if you like."

DAVE'S CINEMATIC FIZZER OF THE YEAR:
Highschool Musical 3.
"If Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron's saccharine duets were the only eyeball-rolling moments here, then Glitter's prepared me well."

JADE'S TECHNOLOGICAL ITEM OF THE YEAR:
A toss up between iPhone and Wii.
"I don't own either but the jealousy is palpable!"

DAVE'S TECHNOLOGICAL ITEM OF THE YEAR:
Bizarre USB sticks.
"From sushi pieces to Lego blocks, I can see great potential for USB drives to rise to pop art status in ways fluoro coloured CD-Rs couldn't."

JADE'S SONG OF THE YEAR:
Burn Bridges by The Grates.
Runners up: Bitch Went Nuts by Ben Folds ("I wish I could play this song on our show!"), Impatience by We Are Scientists, The Lighthouse Song by Josh Pyke.

DAVE'S SONG OF THE YEAR:
Damaged by Danity Kane.
Runners up: We Break The Dawn by Michelle Williams, Surveillance by Wynter Gordon, Right Here (Departed) by Brandy.

JADE'S ALBUM OF THE YEAR:
Brain Thrust Mastery by We Are Scientists.
"They get extra points for putting on the best live show I've ever seen!"
Honourable mentions: Chimneys Afire by Josh Pyke, Teeths Lost, Hearts Won by The Grates.

DAVE'S ALBUM OF THE YEAR:
The Fame by Lady Gaga.
"2008 in music: it's all about revelations for me. It's been about discovering breaking talents and trends."
Honourable mentions: Passion by Kreesha Turner, 19 by Adele.

JADE'S SPORTING MOMENT OF THE YEAR:
Matthew Mitcham's diving performance at the Olympics.
"I was mesmerised by every dive and I watched him from the early rounds right through to the final. I never really cared for diving but he hooked me."

DAVE'S SPORTING MOMENT OF THE YEAR:
The miming at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.
"Suddenly, Nikki Webster looks good..."

JADE'S DIFF'RENT STROKES MOMENT OF THE YEAR:
"Dave showing me how to dance like Britney for my Triple Threat video. He's the only one who can out Britney, Britney."
Runner up: "Airquote Dave's jugs story from the Awkward Silence".

DAVE'S DIFF'RENT STROKES MOMENT OF THE YEAR:
Jade's classic Shoe Swap moments: 'Jade Does David Lim Chic' (Feb 20) and my mama's favourite, 'Jade The Expert Gift Buyer' (Apr 30).

DIFF'RENT STROKES MOMENT IN MEDIA:
Posh and Ellen's literal 'shoe swap' on the Ellen show.
David Lim's rocking cover of Kaiser Chief's Everyday I Love You Less & Less.

DIFF'RENT STROKES CHOICE AWARDS:
30 Rock.
"My love for Liz Lemon is almost stalker like!" - Jade

Margaret Cho's Beautiful tour.
"My first time seeing The Cho live and god, I've never laughed so hard all year." - Dave

Diff'rent Strokes Strikes!

The Diff'rent Strokes team was spotted out bowling last Saturday night. Insiders report, the social gathering was an early celebration of star, Jade Gulliver's partner's birthday.

Gulliver caught up with show mate: David Lim and comic, Dave Shaw (Airquotes Dave) to show off her bowling prowess.

The show wrapped up its final episode for 2008 last week: after prior family commitments prevented Lim and Gulliver from appearing on their Christmas Eve and New Years Eve slots.

Diff'rent Strokes Gets Out 4 Immigration!

Last night on Diff'rent Strokes radio, Jade and Dave caught up with Kathy Drasky from Out 4 Immigration.

Kathy discussed the difficulties faced by bi-national, same-sex couples when discriminatory laws in the U.S. prevent non-American partners from obtaining a green card on the basis of their relationship.

Out 4 Immigration is a volunteer grassroots organisation that addresses the widespread discriminatory impact of U.S. immigration laws on the lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and HIV+ people and their families through education, outreach, advocacy and the maintenance of a resource and support network.

A Very Diff'rent Strokes Pop Collision!

If Jade and Dave were to do a talk show with musical guests: this is pretty much what you can expect!

Two beloved English bands in opposite ends of the Diff'rent Strokes spectrum colliding for one hell of a mash up. Here we have the Kaiser Chiefs performing with Girls Aloud on their televised Christmas Party special:

(Girls Aloud's Sound of The Underground mashed up with Kaiser Chief's Never Miss A Beat = Diff'rent Strokes Eargasm)

If memory serves us right: these two groups have had respective songs covered by Jade and Dave for Shoe Swap before too!

Jade
kept it real with an early Girls Aloud ballad, Life Got Cold, while Dave unleashed his inner rock god for Everyday I Love You Less & Less.

Jump onto iTunes to check out the Shoe Swap archives for an unforgettable karaoke experience.

Celebrating One Year on JOY!

Diff'rent Strokes celebrates their one year anniversary on JOY 94.9 this week!

(Insert plug: Lim in a candid, unposed shot with the JOY logo in the old studio)

David Lim is back in the country, reuniting with his partner in crime - Jade Gulliver - to kick off a summer of Diff'rent Strokes mayhem.

Gulliver and the show's intern, Air Quotes Dave, entertained listeners for four weeks with their mini-series spin off, The Awkward Silence in November... all while Dave took off on a whirlwind trip to India.

"It's good to be back in the country and I can't wait to get on with the show! One can hardly believe it's been a year since we nervously debuted Diff'rent Strokes on JOY," said Dave.

(Opposites attract: Diff'rent Strokes' big plans for 2009)

The dynamic duo's kept the show on community radio airwaves for no less than 16 months in a row now. And while the segments have evolved, the passion Jade and Dave have for the show is still going strong.

"My love for Dave and JOY has continued to grow. We are part of a fun and supportive family who make us constantly try to improve our show," Jade affirms.

In the year since they began, Diff'rent Strokes Radio's begun podcasting on iTunes and have set up a blog in conjunction with JOY94.9's new online initiative for presenters. Their weekly podcast of Shoe Swap has earned the pair no less than a few hundred subscribers and downloads.

"Which is such a big deal for a small time Wednesday night show like ours. It's hard to believe that when the mics go on, that there's people streaming from New York and stuff... listening in on our weekly catch ups!" quips Dave.

(If looks could kill: intern Air Quotes Dave makes an arresting show debut)

The show's also seen the inclusion of a comical intern, Air Quotes Dave and the introduction of new rotating segments such as: Jade Journals, Spotlight and Headlines. Meanwhile, Lim hints the return of a 'fresher Shoe Swap' for this season.

"I've been very inspired revisiting our Shoe Swap podcasts during my trip and we've started brainstorming new ideas for the remaining shows of this year," he reveals.

Jade and Dave show no sign of stopping... and for the new year, Jade warns:

"In 2009, expect big things! We are that little show that could. Make sure you jump on the bandwagon now so you can say 'I loved them from the beginning',"

Season Finale: It's In The Stars.

Tonight Jade and Dave looks to the stars for the season finale of Diff'rent Strokes.

The show will take a short break while Dave globe trots to India and Malaysia in November but the pair will reunite in time for their One Year Anniversary on JOY in December.

(Diff'rent Strokes will return in summer... but wait, we have a spin off, mini series for you!)

In the meantime, Jade and side kick Air Quotes Dave will premiere their spin off, mini-series next week: The Awkward Silence following the quirky lives of socially awkward people.

(Air Quotes Dave stumbles on some lost treasures at JOY HQ)

Tonight's season finale of Diff'rent Strokes will feature a special Shoe Swap. Tune in to hear Jade and Dave swap star signs: who's the perfectionist Virgo and who'll be sensuous Scorpio?

The planets have alligned for another classic Shoe Swap moment!

Jade Becomes A Triple Threat

Diff'rent Strokes Dreamchasers segment has another installment, this time on video!

Jade is continuing her quest to get on Neighbours this time enlisting some familiar faces to become a triple threat...

David Lim
plays a Britney Spears enthusiast who teaches Jade to dance, while Air Quotes Dave continues with his acting 'assistance.' Jade has also brings in to the fold, actual musician Luke Axelby who joined Jade in creating an acoustic version of her grassroots pop song, Jade's Song (What Would Ben Lee Do).

Lights, Camera & Action (Figures)

Jade wasn't kidding when she said she brought in her X-Files Action Figures for Headlines last week!

Here's Jade and Dave playing nice in the JOY studio.

(Happy Birthday in advance, Jade)

Mind you, I only got to hold them for the photo. She snatched them back pretty quick after...

Diff'rent Strokes Idols Shoe Swaps!

For years Jade and Dave have bragged about the supremacy of their staple, signature segment: Shoe Swap.

And who knew in a little known place called Hollywood their influence has infiltrated both their idols lives...

Here's a Youtube delight of Posh (Dave's diva du jour) and Ellen (no prize for guessing who's idol) doing a literal Shoe Swap on the latter's show.

"Ow Dave! These high heels hurt... I don't wanna swap shoes anymore"

Let Me Hear Your Body Talk!

Calling all men!

Diff'rent Strokes is throwing an open discussion about men's body image and the media.

While the role of advertising in relation to women's body image and self-esteem is grounds stomped before, Jade and Dave wants to know how men of all walks of life are affected by images of hunky male models and gym Adonises.

How does the proliferation of toned, chiselled male models in the gay press circuit make you feel about your own body?

Is it a symbol of health and fitness?

Does it spur you to wanna get fit or pressure you to wanna fit in those speedos?

Men! Gay, straight, bi, curious - of all shapes, sizes, colour and age... We wanna hear from you.

Comment here on the blog or if you're a fan on Diff'rent Strokes Facebook page: join our discussion!

Diff'rent Strokes: Men & Body Image is a forthcoming feature on Rainbow Roadtest.

This Wed 22 October 2008 on the show.

Dave Premieres (Alco)Pop Song!

The fluorescently camp half of Diff'rent Strokes - David Lim - will premiere a snippet of his new song, Alcopop, on the show tonight.

(Alcoholics Anonymous - anyone?)

But why has he been laying low with his Dream Chasers segment lately?

"Personally, unlike Jade with her Dream Chasers - I get terribly nervous with mine. It's a dream that I've been so protective of and something I'm so keen to do. I'm like my own biggest supporter and critic," he confesses.

The wannabe popstar begrudgingly pushed himself to contribute a segment this week in a bid to overcome his own 'stage fright'.

"I think it's time I put myself out there instead of cowering behind the studio mic, hoping no one finds out it's Dave thinking he can sing" he said.

Alcopop is still in its draft stage and Lim claims even the producer - local DJ Matt Sofo - has yet to hear it.

"It's an upbeat, electro pop piece and is quite indicative of the musical direction I'll take with my demo," Lim announces.

Diff'rent Strokes: Dream Chasers
Tonight Wed 10-11pm on
JOY 94.9FM.

Get up close and personal with Diff'rent Strokes' Jade & Dave

Q: MY EARLIEST MEMORY IS...
Dave: Being scared too scared to sleep alone in my new room and having mum bunk in with me with the night light on and her Paula Abdul cassette serenading me to slumber. I was 8 and Rush Rush was our song.
Jade: I vaguely remember being at a baby show when I was 2. My nan was sitting beside me and I think I won a clock radio. It was one of many prizes in the lucrative baby show career.

Q: AT SCHOOL I...
Dave:
Was the one who started swimming freestyle for the butterfly race because I didn't really know how to do butterfly.
Jade: Liked to commentate on everything.

Q: I DON'T LIKE TALKING ABOUT...
Dave: Acne or bad skin.
Jade: My feelings and other such emotional things.

Q: MY MOST TREASURED POSSESSION IS...
Dave:
My photo albums. They capture it all. It's often not just reminiscing on how young or cute you used to look but also the hopes and fears behind the smile you wore. The sentiment in that captured moment of time is something to be cherished. Though less could be said about the slap bands and overalls one wore.
Jade: My journals, they’re my memories of the good and the bad, and the place I work out all the worlds and my own problems.

(A classic snapshot from the Diff'rent Strokes Family Album)

Q: MY FATHER ALWAYS TOLD ME...
Dave:
Make sure you let your car engine warm up for at least 2-3 minutes first in the morning before you zoom off into the distance.
Jade: You can’t have your cake and eat it. But what else do you do with cake?

Q: IF I HAD ONE SUPER POWER IT WOULD BE...
Dave:
The ability to read minds. Cause I'm nosy...
Jade: Teleportation or time travel, for much the same reason as Dave, I’m curious about other people and places.

Q: AT HOME I COOK...
Dave:
Amazingly flavoursome dinner - thanks to Chicken Tonight.
Jade: Stirfrys, my specialty is prawn and tofu.

Q: MY FAVOURITE GADGET IS...
Dave:
Sensor lights. If you can classify them as gadgets.
Jade: My iPod. Must have for any podcast/music junkie

(Jade's favourite gadget)

Q: I'M VERY BAD AT...
Dave:
Long division
Jade: Knowing what to say and when to say it.

Q: IF I WAS A DRINK I'D BE...
Dave:
A cup of hot Earl Grey tea with a spoonful of honey. Sweet, calming and soothing.
Jade: Coke, no one really knows what’s in it, whether it’s good or bad for you, but there’s something strangely addictive. Maybe it’s the marketing campaign.

(Finally! A magazine after Jade's own heart)

Q: THE LAST BIG BELLY LAUGH I HAD WAS...
Dave:
When I was told a Tibetan man has filmed a music video of him singing my song in the glaciers.
Jade: Watching 30 Rock, it’s official I have a Tina Fey crush. TV on DVD is the best thing ever.

Q: WHAT I DON'T FIND AMUSING IS...
Dave:
People assuming all gay men are inherently fashionable, witty and want to be your girlfriend's shopping and chick-flick buddy.
Jade: People patting me on the head and talking to me with a hint of condescension.

(Dave rockin' the Afghan Barbie look in a humdrum call centre)

Q: MY WORST JOB WAS...
Dave:
Doing Telstra Bigpond billing enquiries - as if dealing with angry, disgruntled customers weren't enough already. There's also the added joy of sales targets.
Jade: Working customer service at a fast food restaurant I won’t name. When they put me out in the kitchen I liked it more. I hate the way people treat fast food employees.

Q: I OFTEN WONDER...
Dave:
How is it that yawning is contagious.
Jade: Will future Jade be happy with current Jade’s choices.

Well maybe that's because there aren't any.

You'll never hear Jade Gulliver complain about stilettos in the old fashion way again! Thanks to this wacked out new fashion trend of eliminating the heels off high heel shoes, those game enough to try will experience pain on a whole new level.

Not since foot binding have I found something so ludicrous and painful, talked up to be totally in and a la mode: of course, if Posh is workin' them then it's ok. We'll all bow at her greatness and fork out $800AUD for these Marc Jacobs reverse heel monstrosities.

Having said that though; y'all know David Lim is probably browsing eBay as we speak, trying to find a pair in his size.

Diff'rent Strokes hits the town.

A select group of insiders including Diff'rent Strokes co host, Jade Gulliver attended David Lim's 21st birthday celebrations over the weekend at a celebrity hang out on Southbank.

A contact close to the pair said the diva themed party was an intimate affair full of the natural extravagance and amiable atmosphere that is a signature of the host. He was said to be quite at ease in his diva outfit, perfectly accessorising his outfit with Kanye West glasses and elegant black gloves. All were said to be impressed by Jade's attempt to out diva her co host wearing skinny jeans, layered polos, sunglasses, and a bumbag.

Diff'rent Strokes divas, Jade & Dave pose for the paparazzi

Diff'rent Strokes intern "Dave" (Air Quotes Dave) was seen taking a rare night off to celebrate with his employers. He was seen chatting quite freely to the pair putting an end to speculation about a riff between him and Jade, stemmed from Jade's diva like behaviour.

While it is claimed Dave went on to dance the night away, Jade was seen living up to her socially awkward homebody persona, slipping out of the party and home before midnight.

For more about Diff'rent Strokes out on the town be sure to listen to JOY 94.9 this Wednesday night 10-11pm. Or subscribe to the podcast on the right hand side of this blog.

Dave to Spice It Up???

Gossip obsessed bloggers are tapping their keyboards in overtime due to the latest in Spice Girls drama. Diff’rent Strokes diva and wannabee pop star David Lim entered the fray this week as a rumoured replacement for Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham in the latest amalgamation of the Spice Girls reunion tour.

Spice Girls: Generation Next???

Beckham is reported to be so hung up on her life in Hollywood she is not interested in being ‘Posh’ anymore. While the search for a replacement has been a top secret operation, keen Diff’rent Strokes fans caught whiff of Lim’s audition for the gig, and leaked the story on a variety of online forums.

Lim made headlines earlier this year when he went on a tirade and denounced the Spice-ys, refusing to play them on his radio program, as revenge for cancelling their Australian tour plans. He is well known for his Posh inspired appearance, so much so he has now replaced Katie Holmes as the most believable Posh-doppleganger.

Spice Girls management are refusing to comment and Diff’rent Strokes insiders aren’t talking either. More soon…

Diff'rent Strokes Q & A Part 2

Jade and Dave are back answering your questions. Read on to hear more about Dave's burgeoning pop career, the favourite podcasts of the dynamic duo, and of course more X-Files references from Jade...

Dave we're always hearing about your pop career when can we expect to see an album released?

An album sounds all too ambitious right now. I won't lie though, I am working on material for a demo as we speak. I'm most likely to make a party electro pop record. Stay tuned.

How do you respond to internet speculation that you are actually a straight couple posing as gay for fame?

(Dave)I'll always stand by the fact that I'm proud to be on a gay and lesbian radio station (JOY) but I draw the line at my personal life. The who's who of who I'm doing is of no concern to anyone but myself and the who.

(Jade) Dave’s right we love being a JOY show, and the awesome support we have there. Feel free to continue speculating away I love it when people use their imaginations.

I love your show. Do you have any suggestions for other shows/podcasts I should listen to?

(Dave) If you enjoy pop music and particularly, brit pop as much as I do, I'd recommend the Popjustice or Island Records podcasts.

(Jade) I’m such a podcast junkie so I could go on forever but the ones I can’t live without are; Here! With Josh & Sara, The Planet, Sunday Night Safran, This American Life, Street Stories, and Hot Gay Comics.

Dave your hair is always so silky smooth in Diff'rent Strokes publicity
shots, take us through your hair routine?

Haha! My hair is very much a tragedy right now as we speak. It's really not as high maintenance as you think. I don't splurge on branded shampoos and conditioners or products. I'd be as out of place in Hair House Warehouse as a gas plumber would be - not to perpetuate stereotypes of course!

Mya, Criminally ignored???

What song best describes you?

(Dave) Really depends on what head space you're at. Right now I'm really feeling a new Mya ballad: "All In The Name of Love" taken from her largely ignored new record, "Liberation".

(Jade) Apart from “Jade’s Song” you mean??? I agree with Dave it’s really hard to pick one, my top three would be: “Back In Your Head” by Tegan & Sara, “Run” by Ben Kweller, and “David Duchovny” by Bree Sharp.

Shipper or No-Romo???

Dave after your turn as an X-Phile would you say you're a shipper or a no-romo? What about you Jade?

(Dave) It's been so long since I put my X-Phile hat on. But I'll take a stab in the dark and say no-romo! Let's keep it strictly about the UFOs.

(Jade) Everyone starts out no-romo Dave. I love that their “relationship” doesn’t affect the awesomeness of the show, The X-Files is about all things sci-fi but lets face it, the show lives and dies on the chemistry between Mulder and Scully. As you might have guessed I’m a shipper all the way now.

Diff'rent Strokes Q & A

JOY's infamous Diff'rent Strokes duo: Jade Gulliver and David Lim takes time out to answer some of your questions.

Dave gives JOY a shameless plug

Q: Jade, what's really going on between you and the intern ("Dave")?

A: “Dave” actually has a habit of intensely looking at me with those puppy dog eyes of his and given my well documented social awkwardness it makes me uncomfortable. I’m often prone to weird behaviour ranging from aggression to what may be termed ‘divaness’ when I’m in socially awkward situations. Besides, to paraphrase David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson when you spend so much time together it’s like a brother and sister relationship sometimes you love each other, other times you can’t stand each other. That’s how I feel about “Dave” right now, maybe I shouldn’t have made him move into the spare room at my house, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Q: Who would you have picked to sing the upcoming Bond theme instead?

A: (Dave) I don't know - this White Stripes dude and Alicia Keys sound like a pretty Diff'rent Strokes-ey combo to me, Jade! I like it. Although, I would've really loved to see Amy Winehouse do it though. What a shame! Remember kids - crack is whack!

(Jade) It is very Diff’rent Strokes-ey… How about to totally rip off one of our promos Deathcab for Cutie and Emma Bunton??? This new Bond is supposed to have some crossover appeal and we all know what Deathcab did for the OC and vice versa.

Jade in a whole other life!

Q: Is there a colour you wouldn't wear?

A: (Jade) I have two nevers in this life, one is wearing pink, the other I chose to let you imagine rather than reveal here.

(Dave) I seriously don't look good in orange. Hard to find anyone who is, really!

Q: What are your hidden talents?

A: (Dave) I used to think I was the only one who could curl my tongue. But soon realised I wasn't so unique after all.
(Jade) Oh, the tongue curl, it’s kind of cute you thought you were the only one! My hidden talent is the ability to tell what colour an M&M is just by tasting it. There are a lot of skeptics out there on that one, but let me tell you it’s actually a well honed art.

Q: Who chooses the music you play on the show?

A: (Jade) The music on Diff’rent Strokes is a personality all to its own. It actually is quite scary how well a Sugababes import only track and the latest from Ben Kweller compliment each other. To answer your question “Dave” has recently taken over the job of selecting what tracks demonstrate the inherent differences between Dave and myself.

Dave's beloved '97 edition Tamagotchi: as mentioned on the "Growing Pains" segment!

Q: Has Dave found a Tamagotchi yet?

A: (Dave) Umm! Yes, actually. They were going for about $25 at Toys 'R' Us - but I can't endorse that, kids. It's like the mutated nouveau kind. Not the authentic original series I grew up with in '97!

Q: Which would you rather - mow the lawn or knit?

A: (Jade) I was actually quite an avid knitter as a child and have also done my fair share of lawn mowing. I don’t know that I could chose without reinforcing a stereotype I’m not willing to actively perpetuate.

(Dave) Haha! You'd be surprised to hear this but I'd rather mow the lawn. Of course it'd be a vision much like Eva Longoria in season one of Desperate Housewives: in that episode where she's in her evening wear, working a lawn mower at night!

OH&S Targets Jade!

Diff'rent Strokes sweetheart, Jade Gulliver, is the latest target of tabloids for her diva misdemeanours. The radio star shocked fans after news leaked of her ill mistreatment of the show's intern, "Dave" (pronounced: Air Quotes Dave). Listeners were outraged to hear of Gulliver's outlandish demands of shoe polishing and one reported instance of "Dave" being asked to hold out his hand for her to spit out her gum before going on air.

Situation apparently escalated out of hand last week when staple presenter, David Lim, was away. A close source revealed "Dave" rushed out, fighting back tears and nursing what was reportedly a bruised eye. Gulliver couldn't be reached for a comment.

Conditions are reportedly frosty between the pair, many speculating an explosive tell-all by "Dave" this Wednesday as he does his MPR (Monthly Performance Review) with David Lim live on air.

Don't miss Diff'rent Strokes this week: for Air Quote Dave's MPR and tips on how to shine in job interviews!
