How To Talk Ghetto, Babysitters Club and She & Him

This week on Diff'rent Strokes...

CULTURE:

Dave talks 'ghetto'.

Inspired by the sassy African American characters he's seen on TV and heard on fierce R&B tracks - Dave is determined to learn the hood lexicon and work words like 'triflin' and 'hustla' into his vocabulary.

An educational and potentially awkward cultural experience guaranteed.

FLASHBACK:

What's Diff'rent Strokes without the geeky and, occasionally, daggy moments? Tonight Jade takes a flashback into the world of Babysitters Club. Hands up if you've read it. Hands up if you've got the series... (bless you for coming out in public!)

MUSIC:

Jade will be reviewing She & Him's new album tonight.

The American folk duo of actress Zooey Deschanel and guitarist/songwriter Matt Ward returns with their second album imaginatively titled: Volume Two.

Hear our thoughts on the show that imaginatively combines geek and camp, grit and glitter etc...

Vlogging, Cabbage Patch Kids & Sugababes

This week on Diff'rent Strokes... Hello, new segment!

FLASHBACK:

Jade and Dave are proud to present an all new Diff'rent Strokes Flashback segment.

No more getting in a time machine and popping out at a random year - this part of the show is now dedicated to reminiscing on trends and fads in pop culture from the yesteryears.

Tonight Jade will revisit the Cabbage Patch Kids phenomenon.

Find out the story behind one of the world's longest running doll franchises and if celebrity Cabbage Patch Kids will ever make a comeback.

ONLINE:

Dave talks about video blogging or vlogging. See how a little self-expression can become your claim to fame. We'll talk about some of our favourite vloggers and what makes them so popular.

MUSIC:

Dave's practically wetting himself to review the new Sugababes' album, Sweet 7. Described as their most up-tempo and Americanised record yet, does the new-look Sugababes finally have what it takes to break the US?

Jordan Jesse Go, Cougar Town & Broken Bells

This week on Diff'rent Strokes...

PODCAST:

Jade gets into the Jordan Jesse Go podcast. This hilarious American comedy podcast is essentially about life... according to two guys in their twenties. Three years in the running with an impressive "Best of iTunes" pick to brag about, is there anything stopping Jordan and Jesse?

Find Jordan Jesse Go podcasts here

TV:

Dave's used to embracing awkward solo projects (think: Michelle Williams and Victoria Beckham's albums) but how will he react to ex-Friends star, Courtney Cox's Cougar Town? Tonight we discuss post-Friends careers and if this is the show to break Courtney away from "Monica".

MUSIC:

Jade takes a listen to Broken Bells' self-titled debut album tonight. American indie rock duo, Broken Bells, is made up of producer Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) and James Mercer, the vocalist and lead guitarist from The Shins. What's the verdict on this collaboration?

Find out tonight...

TV:

Jade will give her take on American dramedy/mockumentary Parks & Recreation. Fans of The Office and comedian Amy Poehler, best be paying attention.

MUSIC:

Dave will be reviewing Cheryl Cole's debut solo album 3 Words. Has hell frozen over? Who would've thought we'd see the day when a solo Girls Aloud single would make Top 10 in Australia?

Wind Back The Clock!

No, it's not daylight savings... it's bigger than that!

Your beloved Wednesday night geek 'n' camp hour of Diff'rent Strokes has now moved to 8-9pm.

After spending over a year on the 10-11pm shift, Jade and Dave have been offered the opportunity to come on at a more 'prime' hour, if you will.

What this means for you:
- The chance to catch Diff'rent Strokes before bed on a school night.

What this means for Jade and Dave:
- The chance to do Diff'rent Strokes and be in bed at a reasonable hour.

What this means for Dave specifically:
- The "free parking after 7:30pm" won't work out to be completely free for him now.

Diff'rent Strokes with Jade and Dave
Wednesdays 8pm on JOY 94.9 - starting 3 March 2010...

Tomorrow night: Dave returns from his five-week holiday. Tune in to hear our Diff'rent Strokes pair's reunion as Dave shares his highlights from his China and Malaysia trip.
