Cuba Is Japan Interview, eightbit.me, and Favourite 90s Toys

This week on Diff'rent Strokes...

Dave chats with Melbourne indie band Cuba Is Japan about their 7" vinyl single launch, its hand screen printed and knitted package, and why history's a big part of the band's story.

ONLINE:

Jade creates a life on eightbit.me and reminisces on the simpler days of 8-bit gaming graphics. The fun little avatar creation site is currently in beta mode so children, it's invite only. Expect a full-fledged launch to follow soon.

FLASHBACK:

As true children of the 90s, Dave and Jade reminisces on all the must-have toys/gaming shiz back in the day that we used to nag our parents for. Anyone say Trolls, Koosh balls and Nintendo Gameboys? Yes.

This week on Diff'rent Strokes...

TV:

Dave checks out the sensational new Australian dramedy Winners & Losers and explains why this homegrown creation is one with international appeal. The series essentially revolves around the friendship and lives of four best gal pals who were high school "losers". The first episode kicks off with their reconnection at a 10-year high school reunion which was hosted by their bitchy oppressor.

MUSIC:

Jade checks out The Strokes' much talked about comeback album Angles and discusses their sonics and place in today's indie rock inflected market. The lead single 'Under Cover of Darkness' is already giving us a stir for more.

FLASHBACK:

We're looking at your old mobile phones this week, paying homage to all the functions and features that blew our minds back then. Monophonic ringtones, monochrome screens, Snakes game... buttons? Oh, have we got stories for you.
